June 17 — World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought

This day was established by a special resolution of the United Nations General Assembly in 1994 and has been observed annually since 1995. Its purpose is to draw global attention to the challenges of desertification, land degradation, and drought.

According to experts, more than 40 percent of the Earth's land surface is currently affected by various degrees of degradation. This directly impacts nearly half of the world's population.

🌱 Desertification is not only the expansion of deserts. It also includes the loss of fertile land, the reduction of vegetation cover, and the increasing scarcity of water resources.

💧 Every drop of water, every tree planted, and every responsible action toward nature is a valuable contribution to the well-being of future generations.
