June 26 — International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
This day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 1987 to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free from drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking
According to a report by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the number of people using drugs worldwide increased by 23 percent over the past decade, rising from 240 million to 296 million. This is a deeply concerning trend.
Furthermore, the number of people suffering from drug-related disorders increased by 45 percent between 2011 and 2021, reaching 39.5 million people.
✅ The most effective way to combat drug abuse is through a healthy lifestyle, quality education, sports, and strong moral values.
🌱 Let us unite in the fight against drug abuse for a healthy and happy future for our youth!
